Oh, Hello Old Friend.

So, basically I did nothing this weekend except eat candy.  I was a cranky, chocolate eating, zombie.  Poor D, he was stuck with me all weekend.  He got chocolate too, though.  So it was all good in the hood.  I did get a burst of energy on Sunday and got all of my grocery shopping done for the rest of January and hopefully through February.  I do think I am going to have to pick up some chicken broth before February is out, but that isn't too bad.  Here is my menu for February:

After my cranky, chocolate eating, zombie filled weekend I weighed Monday morning and did not like the results.  As such, I decided yesterday that I would visit my old friend, Lose It!.  I love and hate this app all at the same time.  I have used it off and on for a really long time.  It is so simple - you put in your weight, your goal weight, how much you want to lose a week, height, and gender then it calculates it for you and tells you what to do.  Then it leaves the hard part to you ... controlling those cravings!!  If you take it seriously, it really makes you think about every single thing you put in your mouth.  And it reminds you to be aware of portion sizes.  Which is quite depressing when all you really want to do is eat puffy Cheetos until every finger is deliciously orange.  However, when you go to bed at night and you know that you stayed under your calories for the day you feel good and even better when you weigh the next morning!  For example, yesterday afternoon E asked me to make brownies so I did.  Now, normally when mama makes brownies, mama eats the brownies.  I am proud to say that I did not eat one brownie yesterday or this morning and they looked really good this morning.  All because I didn't want to have to log the nine that I would normally eat.  One of the really cool features about Lose It! is that you can have friends, but here is the sad part - none of my friends are logging anymore.  Which means this is my plea for friends!  Anyone .... Bueller?

Here are a few random photos to add some fun:

My smarty pants is on the Superintendent's Honor Roll and got the Super Bug Award

D took photos Saturday morning.  He thought it was really funny to put his foot in my face.

And, for all of you crazies that are wishing for summer!

Shark Week

Insert Jaws music here.  Shark week is just one day away...

..and I am really feeling it this time around.  I want to eat everything in sight, cause physical harm to stupid people, and I am highly emotional.  This was evidenced last night as I sat on my couch watching the Biggest Loser (yes, I'm three days behind, suck it) and as each one of the contestants crossed the finish line of their 5k, I cried.  Not just choked up holding back tears, the big tears that stream down your face.  Then I went to bed - no workout - nothing productive.

Peace.

Fancy Should be My Name

I wish I had a run to tell you about, but I don't.  Sad story.  Several times since Saturday I have thought I'm going to get on the treadmill and then remembered that she is dead.  I am really craving another run!  But with two kiddos it makes it hard to actually get outside to do it.  That, my friends, is why I love my treadmill. Okay, I am done whining.

My dinner that I made last night rocked.  Even E ate it and went back for seconds.  This is huge because E is the pickiest child in the world.  I am going to share this recipe with the blog world, however I would like you to be aware that this recipe is only for those that are experienced cooks and are truly dedicated to spending time in the kitchen.  I don't want you to start this recipe and then get discouraged because you can't keep up.

Okay, I am full of crap.

Fancy Lazy Chicken

1 jar of marinara sauce
3-4 frozen chicken breasts
spaghetti noodles

Dump them in the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours or so.  When you get home and it looks a little too thin, you dump another jar of sauce into the pot and warm it up.

Then - you take the left over hot dog buns you have laying around and turn them into garlic bread.

When you sprinkle cheese on garlic bread it ups the level of fanciness.
E said "can you make hot dog bun garlic bread every time"?

Monday Funday

If I tell myself Mondays are fun, maybe it will help?

E had basketball games all weekend, so I feel as though we got no rest.  I had to get up and come to work this morning while all the others in my fam got to sleep and are probably still in their pajamas.  I'm not bitter, no, not at all.

01/19/13:  Neighborhood
Ran 2.96 miles in 37:01.  That gave me a 12:31 mile which is not good; however, it is much better than I expected.  I hadn't run outside since November 25th.  I decided to just get out there and see how I did.  I didn't have a goal or a time I was trying to beat and I did have to stop and walk a couple of times.

Mexican Food and Jillian

01/16/13:  Living room
Jillian day 3.  So, contrary to goal number four, I did not cook dinner for the fam Wednesday night.  Instead, after a long night of picking out light fixtures for the new hacienda, we stopped at our fave Mexican restaurant.  Ooops.  It just happened...  Which means later when I suffered with Jill, that is just what it was - suffering; I had that stupid pain in my side the entire time.  Gross.

01/17/13:  Couch
Sat on it.

I weighed this morning and only lost a pound.  I was mad.  Then I saw this:

Peace, ya'll

Jumping Jacks...

01/15/13:  Living room
Jillian Day 2.  "Don't even look for an easier way to do a jumping jack . . . I have 400 pound people that can do a jumping jack."  Okay, Jill, geez!!!  Mama didn't want to to do jumping jacks last night, but I did.

Guess who cleaned up my counters, made dinner for her and her brother and poured me cereal for dinner last night?  My sweet E.  Does anyone know what she is up to?  It was super cute but makes me slightly suspicious... what does that smart girl have up her sleeve?!  Or maybe I've just trained her right?!  Yes, you read that right - cereal for dinner.  It is a staple for me when J is out of town. She made her and D chicken nuggets and gold fish crackers.

I need some ideas, peeps.  Even though I am not Catholic, I always give something up for Lent.  Last year I gave up queso.  In the past I have given up pop, chocolate, grilled cheeses....  So, give me some ideas!  Go!!

Sad Story

01/14/13:  Treadmill
10 minutes - then it made a noise that made me think the floor was opening up to swallow me and smelled like burning rubber.  Boo.  I did not give up though, I did Jillian last night after I got the kiddos in bed.  I started over at level 1.  I can definitely feel it!  I also decided to break in a new pair of heels today which makes my muscles scream at me even more.  Good decision.  I have started unscrewing the cover to the motor, so I will let you know if I can figure out what is wrong with her.  My kids interrupted my engineering last night, they needed dinner - I guess they're under the impression I am responsible for that?  I kid, I kid.

Best Chicken Noodle Soup Eva'

In an attempt to fulfill goal number four, yesterday I decided to make something in the crock pot that I could eat for lunch and the kids could have for dinners while the husband is gone.  Anyways, I threw this Chicken Noodle Soup in the crock pot.  I got it from the Crockin' Girls website, you can check them out here.

Chicken Noodle Soup

3 cans of chicken broth
2 cans of cream of chicken
4 chicken breasts
1 stick of butter
24 oz. egg noodles

You put everything in the crock pot except the noodles for seven hours on low.  Then put the noodles in and cook for another hour.

I just tried it at lunch.  Caps lock OMG it is fab!

Keep your fingers crossed that my adventure on the treadmill goes well this afternoon.

TGIF

How I have felt all week

Dudes, I am done with this week.  First full week back in the office and it has made me kind of want to sit down and cry.  I think all of our clients and everyone that called the office made a New Year's resolution to take crazy pills.  "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.  I invented the piano key neck tie...what have you done?"  Anyone?  I know everyone reading this is proud to know that they are spending their time reading a blog that is interspersed with quotes from Zoolander.  You're welcome.

And RIP to my 2012 goals.  Time to come down...

J will be excited to find the new locations for my 2013 goals when he gets home :).

Goals for 2013

Happy 2013!  I hope everyone is as excited about the new year as I am!

As usual, I am late on my post for the new year.  Now, time for my five goals for 2013.  I started this last year and posted them in random places throughout my house.  I know that is totally lame and trust me the husband poked fun at me plenty.

Goals for 2012 were:

1.  Daily quiet time
2.  Wake up when alarm goes off
3.  Workout at least three days a week
4.  Make healthy eating decisions
5.  Be able to run 30 minutes straight on the treadmill

Goals for 2013 are:

1.  Daily quiet Time
2.  Get organized
3.  Workout at least three days a week
4.  Cook dinner for my family more often
5.  Run a half marathon

Yes, your eyes are not playing tricks on you - number five is to run a half marathon.

I did pretty well with my goals for 2012, there are a couple that I have put on my 2013 goal list but that is because they are super cool goals that should really always be part of my life.  I wanted to get back on the treadmill this week but that did not happen.  I ended up with a cold and a crazy allergic reaction to start the week.  I think I am still recovering.

Okay, onto something more entertaining - have you guys seen Biggest Loser this season?  Caps Lock OMG (if you watch it, you will think that is funny) I am loving it!!  The contestants all seem super cool this season and they have minors which is totally rad.  They don't follow the same exact rules as the adults, but they still interact with them and the trainers.  They are just precious.  Please tune in and try to tell me you don't love  Biingo.

I have been on the Zeal Weight Management System since the second of January.  I like it a lot!  I am following the diet plan loosely.  I am not on it to drop a ton of weight, I would like to reach my goal weight which is about a 10 pound weight loss.  I can definitely see how it would be really effective for someone who is wanting to lose more weight.  The system comes with two supplements (along with the wellness drink and protein shakes) that you take.  One is the cleanse which is just a typical colon cleanse.  You can do a quick ten day cleanse where you take it three times a day or just take them for 30 days which is what I have opted to do.  There is also a Burn pill which gives you energy and it really works!  I have definitely noticed a change in my energy levels (for the good).

That is all I have for you peeps.  I have to go catch up on all the other blogs I stalk read.
