Friday Favorites

Yay!  It is Friday!  This week has been looonnnngggg!

I am going to go ahead and say I have an 'unfavorite' and that is the fact that Christmas is over.  I am always sad when the holidays are over and confession - I still have my decorations up.

While Christmas being over makes me sad, the new year always brings feelings of hope and that "blank slate" state of mind.

J and I went out for New Years and had a lot of fun.  We went by ourselves and it was great.

Emma got braces this week.  Strange that it is a favorite, but this teenager smile makes me smile.   It will definitely be a favorite when the pain stops.

A confession and a favorite - On January 1st I ate Brussels sprouts for the first time.  Yes, I lived 34 years without eating them.  They were so good.  I have been obsessed about making them on my own since.  I will also confess that I did not like any cooked vegetable outside of asparagus until the consuming of the Brussels sprouts.  So, anyways, Em and I decided by the end of the year we would like cooked vegetables.  Well, why not start with my new favorite Brussels Sprouts?  Excellent idea.  I found this recipe on Pinterest.  Y'all.  They were so good.  Of course Em used the excuse that her teeth were too sore to try them (I sense that she is going to bail on our cooked vegetable agreement).  The next time I make them I will separate them out some more so that they will get crispier.  And the sauce - whoa.

Happy weekend, everyone!

  1. I'm interested about the sauce you used with the brussel sprouts. Would you be able to point me in the right direction for the recipes?

    1. Yes! It is 6 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon parsley. It is a yummy dipping sauce! However, if you do not like mayonnaise, you may not like it.
