Thoughtful Thursday on Tuesday

Thursdays are scary days for Madam Martinez and I.  For some reason on Thursdays we come up with the craziest ideas.  Then - because there are two of us - we hold each other accountable and make sure that we uphold our end of the deal.  We decided that we were going to keep doing these two week challenges.  You may have read about when we didn't weigh for two weeks here.  I survived, barely.  And am sad to report that I did not lose any weight, I maintained.  Highly disappointing.  Our new challenge has been no diet pop. This one has been difficult, but not as difficult as not weighing.  For M Martinez, on the other hand, this one has been really rough.  Props to The Martinez as well for threatening to rat her out, should she try to sneak one.

Yes, she is "Paquin" in my phone.  Long story.
So, if anyone wants to join in on our two week challenges, you should and you should let us know that you are.  We apparently hate ourselves because we have also decided that we cannot have a sandwich from Napoleon's Deli until we both have a ten pound weight loss.  I told E about this challenge last night when we drove by and she was practically salivating out the window.  She immediately turned to me and said "go run, do something, lose ten pounds".  That is how serious this one is, my nine year old would throw down for some of the sauce they put on those sammies.

On another note, school has started again and my baby E is now in fourth grade.

I did a little baking this weekend.  I say that like this is normal and I am Susie homemaker.  I just really like this recipe and how low in calories it is.  I am pretty sure that I have actually posted it before.  This time I made it without chocolate chips so it is even lower.  Woot woot.

Hide your cake mixes, hide your box tops.. I will cut them out.

You don't need any added sugars with this sweet boy helping.

Two ingredients:  pumpkin puree and a dry chocolate cake mix.  Mix it up and put them in your muffin pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.  They end up being roughly 145 calories each.  My new fave thing: I put them each in a baggy, put them in the freezer, and when I need some cake I throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and it is glorious!!

Be looking for our next two week challenge!

I got scolded at Chuck E Cheese ...

While at the salad bar.  Really?  First of all lets rewind to the fact that I was at Chuck E Cheese on a Tuesday night.  This does not happen.  However, J has recently started a new job with cray cray hours so we had to fit in one last hurrah before school starts.  Both of my kids love the "Cheese" (as D would say).  I'm not sure why, but they do.  Back to my scolding - we go in, get our invisible stamps, pay a ridic amount for crap pizza, drinks, tokens and two salad bars.  After finding what appeared to be the cleanest table in the joint, we set up camp, prepare a plan of attack and execute.  Plan of attack being feeding mama because I was starving. So, I hit up the salad bar with the only plates we were given.  As I'm calmly preparing my salad I all of a sudden hear "did you pay for a salad bar" booming from behind the sneeze guard.  Through the sneeze guard, I look at employee of the month and say "yes, I paid for two salad bars" she very quickly grabs a special black plate and fork and shoves it around the sneeze guard at me.  You see - apparently at the Cheese, when you purchase a salad bar, you receive a special black plate and fork.  I was unaware of the salad bar etiquette at the Cheese (thank everything that is holy that I am not there often enough to know this). Being the zombie turned rogue shark that I am this week, I tell employee of the month (because I couldn't let something like this go, she needed to know that this epic failure was not my fault) "I was only given these plates when I purchased my salad bar".  She huffed and waddled back to the kitchen where I am sure she was immediately crowned employee of the month.  I proceeded to fill my green plate with all of the salad I wanted (green plates are bigger than black plates, suckers!).  I tell you this so that no one else makes the same mistake as me.  I would hate for any of you to be lacking in knowledge as to the salad bar etiquette at the Cheese.  You're welcome.

Just in case you were wondering - I ate my salad and people watched like there was no tomorrow.

I ate ice cream for breakfast.

Well, not real ice cream.  But it was delicious.  I was inspired by @eatrunliftmomma on Instagram.  I am addicted to Instagram, I may have replaced my addiction to weighing myself with looking at Instagram.  Yes, in case you are wondering, I have stuck to my word and have not weighed.  I do not feel the "freedom" that some people talk about feeling after deciding not to weigh.  I actually feel a little out of control and I don't have that reminder every morning to not eat 11 cookies at night.  Anyways, I have been trying to eat healthier and incorporating more working out to the schedule.  You know, like before I turned 30 and everything (and by everything I mean body, brain, willpower, etc.) turned to mush.

So, for my healthy ice cream, should you desire to join the awesome train, here is my recipe and I think you could really add anything you wanted to this.  (Oh, this makes two, you could really do it by thirds because half is REALLY filling.)

1 cup almond milk
2 - spoons of plain greek yogurt
4 tbs of PB2
2 scoops of protein powder
1 banana

Blend, freeze and enjoy the next day :)

I'm working on my meal prepping - key to healthy eating - I prepped for two days on Sunday afternoon.  I can't do too many days at once or I will choose something else and what I prepared will go bad.  I have to trick myself...

In other news, I am still trying to log my food and I recently added workouts.  I did really well, stopped doing well and now I'm back to working on it really hard.

PLEASE NOTE - no weight logged...

My cuz sent this to me the other day.  How true is this ladies?

Whenever I see Will Ferrell I just laugh automatically.  It doesn't really matter what it is about.

I think I have a problem...

So, my friend Martinez had an idea (inspired by one of the professional blogs we stalk).  As I am getting up to go to the back to pop my snack size popcorn (they're never big enough), she says this girl isn't looking at the scale the whole month of August, you want to do that?  I immediately started shaking, like physically shaking.  I even said I'm shaking aren't I?  Martinez confirmed.  This is not a normal reaction.  Why did I react like that?  I don't feel like I am a crazy person that is obsessed with the scale.  I do weigh myself every day, sometimes more than once a day, but I didn't really think if a scale was removed for a month I would react that way.  After I recovered from this shocking idea, we talked about it a little more and she has suggested just two weeks without the scale.  I agreed, we will see how this works.  Can I do it?  I feel so stressed right now!

Maybe if I can free myself of my addiction with weighing, it will free my addictions to cookies, chips and ice cream.  Probably not.

What's Up Wednesday
